A Little More

For Heidi McLean Frye, AACC is home. After graduating from Severna Park High School, she attended AACC before transferring on to the University of Baltimore. In 2001, she began working at AACC part-time in the evenings as a clinical lab assistant (after working during the day as a Certified Medical Assistant at Anne Arundel Medical Center). She became a full-time instructor and program coordinator in 2003 and had plans to stay at AACC until retirement. But three years later, her husband received a promotion and they moved out of the area.

In 2022, she returned home to AACC as academic chair of the Medical Assisting program. She loves the professional environment of the staff and faculty as well as her students’ energy and stories. Frye is inspired by the diversity she sees in students at AACC and finds their tenacity “amazing.” In addition to teaching, she works with the Medical Assisting Student Association.

“I’m so thrilled to be back and I’m passionate about helping prepare future allied health professionals for successful careers,” she said.
