Brian Weber has been a member of the English department at AACC since 2007. His journey into teaching was unconventional; he initially pursued a career in meteorology, working as a radio disc jockey and television meteorologist before he returned to his true passion – literature and writing. Inspired by the compelling narratives of his own college professors, Weber now seeks to foster a similar enthusiasm and appreciation for language in his students.
In his classroom, Weber adopts a facilitative approach, aiming to empower students by inviting them to guide their own learning. "I am more of a guide on the side than a sage on the stage," said Weber. He enjoys the reciprocal nature of teaching, where both he and the students benefit from shared experiences and insights.
Outside the classroom, Weber wears many hats. A professional voice actor, he lends his talents to a variety of projects including commercials, video games and corporate training videos. He is also a poet and fiction writer, currently working on several book projects. His interests extend to target archery, where he is a certified instructor in the National Archery in the Schools Program, and he enjoys traveling, particularly to New England, the Southwest, the Pacific Northwest and the Atlantic provinces in Canada, with Rome being his favorite international city.
Weber is deeply inspired by AACC's vibrant, diverse student body and the collaborative spirit of his colleagues. He finds joy in witnessing students overcome challenges, embrace curiosity and commit to personal and academic growth. His classroom is known for its welcoming atmosphere, humor and the genuine connections he builds with students, many of whom appreciate his empathy when it comes to the amount of juggling students often have to do with school, work and family.
