A Little More

Gwendolyn Johnson likes to keep busy. Since 2018 she has worked as the internship program coordinator in the college’s Sarbanes Center for Career and Civic Engagement. She serves as an engagement coach for AACC students, faculty and staff. Since February 2023, she also has been an adjunct professor in the Achieving College and Career Advancement department, helping students make the most of their college experience.

“I enjoy adding skills and tools to a student's toolkit,” she explained. “This is what I value most about teaching”

Prior to AACC, Johnson worked for the South Baltimore Learning Center, which helps adults with literacy, life skills and career preparation. There she served in various positions, including learner support services, partnership coordinator, academic support counselor/intake specialist and career counselor.

“I feel most useful when I can support student retention, student success and academic persistence while connecting them to the broader community,” she said. Her advice for students? “Finish what you start!”
