Kasia Taylor never intended to go into teaching. After earning an undergraduate degree in international relations and economics and a master’s in business administration, she became a systems analyst with accounting firm Arthur Anderson. Then her husband was assigned to the American embassy in Cairo, Egypt, and she moved to be with him.
While there, she taught computer and business courses at the British Council. She wanted to continue teaching when she returned to the United States, so she began teaching technology courses at University of Maryland University College (UMUC, now known as University of Maryland Global College).
Subsequent overseas postings to Lagos, Nigeria, and Amman, Jordan, gave Taylor continued teaching experience. She designed computer application courses for the Lagos Business School and taught online courses at UMUC while in Amman.
Taylor first came to AACC when she moved to Severna Park in 1993. She started off teaching part time at the college between her overseas stints. She became a full-time faculty member in 2007.
“I love seeing students’ confidence grow in their use of computer technology as they move through the course material,” she said. “They become problem solvers. AACC is unique in our focus on providing a true hands-on experience.”
