A Little More

Shelly Bentley has over 34 years of experience in education. She started her career in Prince George's County as a first-, second- and third-grade teacher in a full-inclusion setting, where students with disabilities learn in a regular classroom rather than separate classes. She then became a reading specialist. After eight years teaching in Maryland, she returned to her home state of Pennsylvania to work as a reading specialist, literacy coach, curriculum director, assistant professor at a university and as a business owner of her own reading clinic. She then lived and worked as a reading interventionist in Texas before returning to Maryland.

Bentley has two daughters who live and work in Phoenix, Ariz. She loves animals and has a miniature Australian Shepard named Theo.  In her spare time, she likes reading, shopping and spending time with her family.
