Doug Byerly

Douglas Brandt Byerly is a professor of Music at Anne Arundel Community College, where he is director of Choirs and Voice, and the artistic director of Opera AACC. Byerly has worked with professional, community and academic companies throughout the United States in productions of opera, operetta and musical theater (over 100 productions to date). He has over 30 years of classroom experience, having taught elementary, middle school, high school (including music magnet and arts schools) and college. In addition to teaching at AACC, he is the director of Music at St. John the Evangelist Church in Hydes and the past director of Music for the Archdiocese of Baltimore. Byerly served on the board of trustees for the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra for the past eight years and is a past board member of Annapolis Opera. He holds a Master of Music from the Peabody Conservatory of The Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor of Music from Western Michigan University. Byerly lives in Towson with his wife, Christine, and his cocker spaniel, Sophie.
