This policy is in compliance with the Family and Medical Leave Act and the National Defense Authorization Act of FY2010.

Anne Arundel Community College shall grant: 

Up to 12 weeks of job-protected family and/or medical leave during a 12-month period to an eligible employee for a qualifying event, including but not limited to, care of a spouse, significant other residing within the same household, child, or parent with a serious health condition.  

Up to 26 weeks of job-protected caregiver leave during a 12-month period to an eligible employee for care of a spouse, significant other residing within the same household, child, parent, or next of kin who is a recovering military service member; 

Up to 12 weeks of job-protected exigency leave during a 12-month period to an eligible employee for a qualifying event during the active duty or call to active duty of a spouse, significant other residing within the same household, child, parent, or next of kin of a covered military service member.   

All leave under this policy is leave without pay unless the employee has available annual and/or sick leave, which shall be applied to the leave period.  Medical certification or supporting documentation shall be required for all leave requested. 

The Board of Trustees hereby authorizes the President, or his/her designee, to develop and establish appropriate procedures to implement and enforce this policy.
