AACC offers more than 160 degrees and certificates through our five schools. Many degrees and certificates can be completed entirely online with hundreds of courses that transfer or benefit you on the job. From accounting to early childhood education, from nursing to creative writing—if you want to earn credit toward a college degree or certificate, there’s an academic program here for you.

Are you looking for a specific major in the humanities not listed above? You may want to learn more about our associate degrees in Transfer Studies or Liberal Arts. These degrees allow you to pursue an area in which we offer courses (history, sociology, world languages, etc.), but don't offer a formal major.

Some students come to AACC knowing exactly what they want to do and where they want to do it. Others have no idea. If you reviewed the majors in the accordions above, but can't find the major you want, have a specific four-year program with special requirements to which you wish to transfer, or are still completely undecided, we have some options for you.
If you intend to transfer to a four-year school but AACC doesn't have a major aligning with that school's degree requirements, an academic advisor can help! AACC's Transfer Studies degree can be customized based on your interests to ensure the smoothest transfer possible. The Transfer Studies' general education courses meet the general education requirements for public college and universities in Maryland. They may meet the requirements of many private and out-of-state colleges and universities as well. Your advisor will work with you to investigate the requirements of your intended transfer school and assist you in making sound educational decisions.
For those truly undecided students, AACC has an Undecided/General Explore option to allow you to experience different subjects while completing the Maryland general education requirements. In the Undecided/General Explore major you’ll take general education courses that can apply to any major, while working with faculty, academic advisors and career counselors to decide what you want to major in. You can take up to 20 credits (approximately six classes) before you decide on your major.
Esther Kuhnert wanted to become a makeup artist and, after graduating high school, completed a five-week beauty school program. After working two years in her field as a freelance makeup artist, she realized she didn’t want to open a shop of her own. Uncertain about her future, Kuhnert turned to AACC.
