In partnership with AACC, Anne Arundel County Public Schools offers a Maryland Approved Alternative Preparation Program for teacher licensure for outstanding individuals who do not currently have a professional teaching license, but have a sincere desire to enter/remain in the profession of education.
In this MAAPP/RTC program, you will pursue your teaching credentials through an intensive preparation program consisting of education courses, classroom visits and an internship. Coursework is delivered in different formats (face-to-face and hybrid), while the internship provides “hands-on” training in the teacher’s own classroom under the supervision of a mentor teacher.
The program is designed to recruit teachers primarily for critical shortage areas. These areas are middle and high school math, middle school science, biology, chemistry, physics, English, middle school language arts, computer science, family consumer science, technology education, Spanish, French, social studies grades 7-12, early childhood education and elementary education. Upon successful completion of the program, MAAPP/RT educators will receive a Standard Professional License issued by Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE).
