Want to become a Terp? Each year, hundreds of students successfully transfer from AACC to University of Maryland College Park.

Transfer credits to UMD

AACC works closely with UMD to offer graduates a seamless transfer process. UMD has a dedicated pre-transfer advisor on the Arnold campus to speak with students and help them plan their transfer path! Current students can apply to the Maryland Transfer Advantage Program (MTAP) for additional savings on UMD tuition. Because admission to the University of Maryland, College Park may be competitive, UMD's Office of Undergraduate Admission will retain the final authority in all admission decision.

PLAN YOUR FUTURE

Ready to develop your transfer plan? If you are a new student, apply to AACC to get started. Current students should speak with an AACC transfer advisor.

What can I study at UMD?

UMD offers several academic programs. AACC and UMD have developed transfer agreements and select transfer guides to ensure that you transfer successfully. If your program or major is not listed, you can work with a transfer advisor at AACC to create a custom transfer plan.

The transfer agreements listed below assist students transferring from AACC to UMD to complete a bachelor's degree. The list is organized by AACC major. The select transfer guides help specify which AACC courses you should take if you're planning to transfer to UMD for one of the listed majors.

ACADEMIC PROGRAM ARTICULATION AGREEMENT BETWEEN
ANNE ARUNDEL COMMUNITY COLLEGE AND
UNNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND COLLEGE PARK AT THE UNIVERSITIES AT
SHADY GROVE
REGARDING TRANSFER FROM ASSOCIATE OF SCIENCE IN PUBLIC HEALTH
PROFESSIONS TO BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN PUBLIC HEALTH SCIENCE

This Academic Program Articulation Agreement ("Agreement") is entered into as of the date last signed below by and between Anne Arundel Community College ("Sending Institution") and University of Maryland College Park ("Receiving Institution") (collectively, the "Institutions") to facilitate the transfer of academic credits from the Associate of Science in Public Health Professions, HEGIS code 492000 and CIP code 512201, for the completion of Bachelor of Science in Public Health Science, HEGIS code 121401, and CIP code 512299 (the "Program(s)").

A. Qualifying Students

This Agreement pertains to the transfer of "Qualifying Students", i.e., those students who:

1. Have successfully completed the Program at the Sending Institution;

2. Are enrolled in the Sending Institution in good standing;

3. Have completed prerequisite ours requirements at the Receiving Institution; and

4. Are accepted for admission to the Receiving Institution.

B. Responsibilities of the Institutions

The Institutions agree to implement the transfer of Qualifying Students in accordance with applicable law and the following requirements and protocols:

1. A Qualifying Student may transfer from the Sending Institution into the Receiving Institution for the completion of the Program.

2. The Receiving Institution will accept credits toward completion of the Program in accordance with Exhibit 1.

3. Additional Provisions

a. Courses that fulfill program/major requirements are only eligible for transfer if Qualifying Students have earned a grade of "C- " or better. Courses used to fulfill only general education requirements are eligible for transfer if students have earned a grade of "D- " or better, with the exception of college composition, which must be passed with a "C-" (i.e., 70% or higher).

b. Maryland community college students who have completed the associate degree or students who have completed 56 semester hours of credit with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) or 2.0 or higher on a scale of 4.0 shall not be denied direct transfer to a Maryland public four-year institution, unless the number of students seeking admission exceeds the number that can be accommodated. A minimum GPA of 2.0 does not guarantee admission to the UMD Public Health Science program at the Universities at Shady Grove; a student needs to meet all written admissions requirements to be eligible.

c. The Receiving Institution participates in general education block transfer. Students entering the Receiving Institution with an A.A., A.S. degree from the Sending Institution will have met all of the Receiving Institution's general education requirements, with the exception of the required upper division composition and institutional coursework.

i. The equivalencies in Exhibit 1 detail the coursework Qualifying Students would take under the block transfer program.

d. The Receiving Institution will accept up to seventy (70) credits from the Sending Institution.

e. Qualifying Students intending to transfer to the Receiving Institution should complete the admission application for the Receiving Institution once the Qualifying Student has completed forty-five (45) credits of an Associate Degree program. Qualifying Students should contact the Financial Aid Office at the Receiving Institution as soon as possible in regard to the Receiving Institution's deadlines for financial aid.

f. Qualifying Students who have completed an Associate Degree at the Sending Institution are guaranteed admission to the Receiving Institution.

4. The Institutions designate the following employees as responsible for the oversight of the transfer of Qualifying Students:

Should the responsible employee or position change, an Institution will promptly provide new contact information to the other Institution in writing.

2. This agreement shall automatically renew for one (1) year terms, unless terminated as set forth below.

3. Either Institution may, at its sole discretion, terminate this Agreement upon delivering sixty (60) days written notice to the other Institution and the Maryland Higher Education Commission.

4. In the event of termination by either Institution, transfer credits accepted by the Receiving Institution prior to the termination date for Qualifying Students will not be impacted and students currently enrolled in the Program at the time of termination shall be permitted to complete the Program as described herein.

5. The Institutions agree to meet once every year to review the terms of this Agreement.

D. Amendment

1. This Agreement constitutes the entire understanding and agreement of the Institutions with respect to their rights and obligations in carrying out the terms of the Agreement, and supersedes any prior or contemporaneous agreements or understandings.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the Institutions have caused this Agreement to be executed by their duly authorized representatives.
